About our masonry contractor crew in Wilmington

A gray interlocking paver driveway runs between a stucco house wall and tall tan concrete block walls.

How I got started in masonry here

I spent years as another mason's right hand here in Wilmington before I started this business in 2021. I learned the trade working next to that owner, running the crew on everything from chimneys to garden walls, and I learned just as much standing in driveways talking with customers. These days we're best known for careful mortar work on older brick. Folks call us for repairs, new walls and the outdoor projects they've been putting off, and you can see everything we do on our home page.

What I care about most is the stuff you can't see once we're done, like the mortar mix, what's under the wall and where the water goes. Wilmington gets a lot of rain and sits low, so a wall that looks great on day one but holds water isn't a good wall. When I'm at your house, I'll point right at the crack or joint and tell you in plain words what's going on and what we'd do about it.

What you can count on when we work for you

  • One person from start to finish

I'm the one who comes out to look at your job, and I'm on site with our crew of masons while the work gets done. What we talk about in your yard is what gets built, because nothing gets lost passing from a salesman to a crew.

  • We sort out the water first

Before we build or repair anything, we figure out where the rain goes off that wall, step or chimney. Masonry that drains well stays sound, and in a place this wet that matters more than anything.

  • Straight talk on what can wait

We fix what's actually worn and tell you honestly when something still has years left in it. That way you're not paying to redo good brick or joints that are doing their job.

  • Help with permits and historic review

We tell you which office handles your address and whether a historic district review could come into it, and we help you get the paperwork together before work starts. Changes to buildings in the city's local historic districts need a Certificate of Appropriateness, so it pays to sort that out early.

Licensing and insurance

Serving Wilmington Since 2021

  • Fully licensed and insured

Fully licensed and insured. Ask me about it when I come out to walk your job, and I'll go over it with you in plain words.

  • When a state contractor license is required

North Carolina's licensing board for general contractors says a general contractor must be licensed when the total project cost is $40,000 or more. So on a big project, that's the rule that applies to whoever is running the job.
